France Raises Concerns Over Violence in Syria

Kuwait City: France on Saturday expressed its deep concern about the serious violence incidents that have occurred in Syria in recent days in the governorates of Tartus, Latakia, and Homs.

According to Kuwait News Agency, in a press statement, the French Foreign Ministry condemned in the strongest terms the atrocities that have affected civilians on a sectarian basis and prisoners. It called on the interim Syrian authorities to ensure that independent investigations can shed full light on these crimes and that their perpetrators are condemned.

The ministry reiterated France’s commitment to a peaceful and inclusive political transition, free from foreign interference, which guarantees the preservation of Syria’s ethnic and sectarian pluralism. France believes this is the only way to prevent the country from sinking into fragmentation and violence. The ministry vowed that it would spare no effort in this regard.
