First Deputy PM Emphasizes Smart Transport for Traffic Safety

Kuwait city: The National Smart Transport and Services Forum is a strategic platform that brings together government entities and private-sector institutions to build effective partnerships and develop smart transport services, said First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al-Sabah.

According to Kuwait News Agency, in a speech delivered at the opening of the forum, Sheikh Fahad stressed that developing smart transport and services, including light transport systems, is a key pillar in enhancing traffic safety and improving the efficiency of traffic and mobility management. He noted that this is achieved by expanding the use of smart systems, data analysis, and the application of modern technological solutions that support preventive efforts and help reduce traffic accidents.

The upcoming phase requires updating regulatory and legislative frameworks to keep pace with rapid developments in the smart transport and services sector, enhance shared responsibility and support effective partnerships between government bodies and the private sector, ensuring the sustainability of this vital sector's development, he added.

Sheikh Fahad pointed out that organizing the forum comes within the Ministry of Interior's commitment to supporting the development of the smart transport and services system, consolidating concepts of governance and institutional partnership.

The forum includes a number of specialized panel discussions addressing governance, regulation, partnership and the role of legislation in building a smart transport and services system.
