First Batch of Palestinian Patients Cross Into Gaza from Egypt

Rafah: Twelve Palestinian patients have arrived in the Gaza Strip from Egypt through the Rafah border crossing after completing treatment at Egyptian hospitals. The patients entered Khan Younis city, located in southern Gaza, on Monday night, where they were greeted by the cheers of their families, witnesses told KUNA.

According to Kuwait News Agency, this is the first group of Palestinian returnees from Egypt since the closure of the border crossing in May 2024. Initially, fifty patients were expected to cross the border on the first day of its reopening from both sides. However, local media reports indicate that the Israeli occupation forces permitted only 12 to enter.

The reopening of the Rafah border crossing marks a significant development in the movement of patients requiring medical care, highlighting ongoing challenges faced by Palestinians in accessing healthcare services.
