EU Welcomes US-Ukraine Talks Hosted by Saudi Arabia

Jeddah: The European Union (EU) welcomed on Tuesday the US-Ukraine talks hosted by Saudi Arabia, stressing, "the ball is now in Russia's court." In a post on X, EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen welcomed the news from Jeddah on the US-Ukraine talks, including the proposal for a ceasefire agreement and the resumption of US intelligence sharing and security assistance. According to Kuwait News Agency, Von der Leyen emphasized that the talks represent "a positive development that can be a step towards achieving a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace for Ukraine," while also stressing that "the ball is now in Russia's court." She added that the EU is ready to play "its full part" together with its partners in the upcoming peace negotiations. Saudi Arabia is hosting the US-Ukraine talks, which began earlier, in an effort to find a final solution to the Russia-Ukraine war.
