Brussels: The European Union Commissioner for Crisis Management, Hadja Lahbib, expressed her alarm over the "unfortunate escalation of violence in Syria" and called for an immediate cessation of hostilities.
According to Kuwait News Agency, in a post on X, the EU Commissioner stressed the importance for "all parties in the conflict to respect international humanitarian law and ensure the protection of all civilians without discrimination, including humanitarian workers." The United Nations had previously voiced its deep concern regarding the unacceptable rise in violence in Syria, with particular focus on the regions of Damascus and Homs.
