Brussels: European Commissioner for Preparedness, Crisis Management and Equality Hadja Lahbib condemned the missile and drone attack carried out by Russian forces on Thursday night against the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, describing it as "another night of terror". Lahbib stated that the assault targeted homes, a hospital, and energy infrastructure, resulting in at least four fatalities and numerous injuries.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Lahbib expressed her concerns in a post on X, emphasizing the need for accountability, stating, "This is a war on civilians. It must end. Russia must be held accountable." Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy corroborated the impact of the attack, noting in his own post that approximately 430 drones and 18 missiles, including ballistic and aeroballistic missiles, were involved in the strike. He highlighted that the attacks were strategically aimed to inflict maximum harm on civilians and essential infrastructure.
Zelenskyy further elaborated that the assault led to significant damage to numerous apartment buildings in Kyiv. Additionally, debris from an Iskander missile struck the Azerbaijani Embassy, underscoring the extent of the destruction caused by the attack. The international community continues to monitor the situation as tensions remain high in the region.
