EU Diplomacy Chief Urges Focus on Russia’s Obligations as Aggressor

Brussels: EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas emphasized the importance of concentrating on Russia's responsibilities as the aggressor in the ongoing conflict with Ukraine. During a press conference following a meeting of EU foreign ministers, Kallas stated that the situation is distinctly clear, urging attention on Russia's actions rather than on sacrifices from Ukraine, which she described as the victim.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the EU meeting featured an intervention by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, who offered a detailed update on the state of negotiations and international efforts supporting Ukraine. Kallas highlighted the broad support for the United States' peace initiative, stressing the significance of how the war concludes. She reiterated that an immediate and unconditional ceasefire is essential as a preliminary step towards ending the conflict.

The foreign ministers also discussed strategies to maintain pressure on Russia while enhancing military and financial aid to Ukraine, reflecting the EU's commitment to supporting Ukraine amidst the ongoing crisis.
