Riyadh: The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture today launched the smart assistant 'Saqr,' one of the outputs of the 'Hafidh' digital platform for water resources sustainability. The launch comes as part of the ministry's efforts to develop field monitoring tools for water sources and their uses, raise the efficiency of inspectors enforcing the provisions of the Water Law within the ministry's mandate, enhance compliance with governing regulations and bylaws, and adopt modern digital solutions that strengthen the protection and sustainability of water resources.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the ministry explained that 'Saqr' is one of the key digital enablers supporting digital transformation in the water sector. It contributes to improving regulatory compliance and enhancing the quality of monitoring procedures, in line with national targets for sustainability and water-resource governance.
It noted that 'Saqr' is an innovative AI-powered technical solution designed to support field inspectors by providing fast and accurate access to the Water Law, its implementing regulations, and relevant regulatory frameworks. This enables inspectors to determine the appropriate legal action for each case based on the type of violation, location, and licensing status.
The ministry added that the 'Saqr' technology will help accelerate enforcement procedures, reduce procedural errors, and standardize regulatory interpretation. It will also guide inspectors to the required documents and attachments for each case, ensuring complete inspection reports and enhancing the accuracy and quality of documentation.
