Riyadh: The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture: The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture emphasized the importance of supporting agricultural processed products to maximize the use of seasonal crops, particularly during the winter season, which witnesses abundant fruit and vegetable production. These products help improve the quality of local produce, increase the added value of the agricultural sector, and support the national economy in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
According to Saudi Press Agency, this initiative is part of the ministry's awareness campaign to promote environmental awareness and highlight the role of agricultural processing in developing crops and producing local winter foods that enhance food security in the Kingdom.
The ministry stated that processed products improve the quality of local output, diversify its uses, and reduce waste by transforming surplus crops into high-quality food products. Examples include dates used in the production of juices, sweets, and natural sugars, as well as fresh milk used to produce cheeses, yogurt, and butter. These products also help increase farmers' incomes, support families working in cottage industries and small and medium-sized enterprises, and create promising investment opportunities in local and international markets.
The ministry called on the public to reduce food waste and protect natural resources and agricultural crops, stressing that these efforts are essential to achieving food security, improving resource efficiency, and ensuring environmental sustainability for future generations.
