Energy Regulators Regional Association Conference Begins in Oman

Muscat: The annual Energy Regulators Regional Association (ERRA)'s two-day conference commenced in Oman, drawing over 280 specialists, including 50 policymakers and academics from around the globe.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Chairman of the Authority for Public Services Regulation (APSR), Dr. Mansour Al-Hinai, emphasized in his speech that hosting the conference is an opportunity to showcase Oman's efforts in enhancing the energy sector's efficiency and diversifying its sources within the framework of Oman Vision 2040. The country is also making strides towards achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

Dr. Al-Hinai noted the significance of the event being held in the Middle East for the first time, describing it as a high-level international platform for exchanging expertise and discussing developments in energy regulatory policies. The conference aims to enhance integration among member states and highlight Oman's role as a leader in building a sustainable economy rooted in innovation and modern technology.

ERRA's Chair, Andrijana Nelkova Chuchuk, commended Oman's innovative energy solutions, stating that the country's experience is a unique model balancing market efficiency, environmental sustainability, economic competitiveness, and climate responsibility. She further remarked on Oman being a strategic partner capable of influencing global energy governance, particularly in market management, interoperability regulation, and investment stimulation in energy projects.

The conference will address several critical issues aligned with global challenges, such as improving regulatory systems' efficiency, promoting renewable energy investments, and assessing technological advancements' impact on the energy sector's future. It will also include specialized dialogue sessions, interactive workshops, and bilateral meetings to explore joint cooperation and partnership opportunities in various energy sectors.

The association, a leading international regulatory group in the energy sector, comprises 47 member organizations from 43 countries. It facilitates the exchange of expertise, the development of effective policies, and the creation of legislative frameworks to balance production efficiency, resource sustainability, market fairness, and the achievement of sustainable development goals.
