Egypt’s President Calls for Full Implementation of Sharm El-Sheikh Agreement to End Gaza Conflict

Cairo: Egypt's President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi has made a call for the complete implementation of the Sharm El-Sheikh agreement, which aims to bring an end to the ongoing Gaza conflict by stabilizing a ceasefire and ensuring the provision of unrestricted and sufficient humanitarian aid.

According to Kuwait News Agency, during a meeting on Monday with Russia's Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu, President Al-Sisi emphasized that achieving a two-state solution consistent with international legitimacy is the only viable path toward a just and lasting peace. He also stressed the importance of ongoing efforts to safeguard stability, sovereignty, and resources in the Middle East.

President Al-Sisi reiterated Egypt's support for resolving the Russia-Ukraine crisis and the pursuit of comprehensive peace. Discussions between the two leaders also focused on strengthening bilateral ties, building on agreements from President Al-Sisi's visit to Moscow in May 2025. Key topics included the Russian Industrial Zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone and the El-Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant, with a particular emphasis on expanding investment, trade, and tourism between the two nations.

President Al-Sisi highlighted the growing momentum in Egypt-Russia relations, culminating in a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement. Secretary Shoigu affirmed Russia's commitment to deepening cooperation and praised Egypt's role in the region.

The meeting was attended by several key officials, including Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, General Intelligence Chief Hassan Rashad, National Security Adviser Faiza Abou Al-Naga, Russia Deputy Secretary Alexander Venediktov, Ambassador of Russia to Egypt Georgiy Borisenko, Foreign Intelligence Service Deputy Sergey Mikheev, Security Council Official Andrei Yevseyev, and Presidential Administration Official Maria Baneva.
