Cairo: Egypt plans to drill 11 wells projected to produce 160 billion feet of natural gas with an average daily output of 100 million cubic feet of gas and 2,000 barrels of condensates. The ministry of Petroleum and Minerals announced this initiative, highlighting the government's focus on expanding natural gas resources.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the Ministry of Petroleum and Minerals issued a press release stating that Minister of Petroleum Karim Badawi recently visited the "Bijona-2" well in Daqahliya Governorate. This drilling activity aligns with the "neo el menzala" concession, managed by El-Wastani Petroleum in collaboration with Dana Gas.
The press release indicated that the Bijona well is preliminarily projected to contain nine billion cubic feet of gas. Its expected output is anticipated to contribute significantly to diversifying Egypt's natural gas resources. The ministry has expressed its commitment to increasing national gas production across different regions, including the Delta.
Cairo announced that the nation's natural gas exports reached USD 8.4 billion in 2022, showing a substantial rise compared with USD 3.5 billion in 2021, marking an increase of 171 percent.
