Cairo: Egyptian President Abdulfattah Al-Sisi on Wednesday reaffirmed Egypt's full support for Lebanon's efforts to restore stability, advance its economic recovery, and begin reconstruction. In a statement, Presidential Spokesperson Ambassador Mohammad Al-Shenawi said that President Al-Sisi made the remarks during a meeting in Cairo with Lebanese Prime Minister Dr. Nawaf Salam.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the talks were attended by Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, along with the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Economic Development, and Electricity, as well as the ambassadors of both countries. President Al-Sisi praised the positive steps taken by the Lebanese government in recent months to restore the regular functioning of state institutions and to extend state authority across all Lebanese territory.
He also underlined Egypt's ongoing engagement with various international and regional actors to reinforce Lebanon's stability and ensure the full withdrawal of Israeli occupation from southern Lebanon. He stressed the importance of international support for Lebanese state institutions, foremost among them, the Lebanese Armed Forces, so that they may effectively carry out their national duties.
Prime Minister Salam expressed deep appreciation and gratitude to President Al-Sisi for Egypt's continued support for Lebanon, describing it as a reflection of the deep-rooted historical ties between the two nations. He also outlined his government's priorities for the coming period, with a focus on strengthening cooperation and integration with Arab states, particularly Egypt.
According to the presidential spokesperson, the meeting also addressed developments in several regional issues, during which both sides affirmed the alignment of Egyptian and Lebanese positions regarding the situation in the Gaza Strip. The two leaders further agreed on the importance of intensifying joint efforts to find peaceful and political solutions to crises affecting countries in the region, while underscoring the need to respect their sovereignty and territorial integrity.
