Sharm el-sheikh: Egyptian President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi commended Monday the Gaza ceasefire deal as "closing a painful chapter of humanity" and ushering in a fresh era of peace and stability in the Middle East. Addressing the peace summit in Egypt's Red Sea resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh, he emphasized the significance of the Sharm El-Sheikh agreement in ending the war in Gaza and opening a new chapter for the region.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the Egyptian leader expressed gratitude to the U.S., Turkiye, and Qatar for their efforts in facilitating the Gaza peace agreement. He expressed hope that the agreement would foster a political environment conducive to the two-state solution. He also mentioned that Cairo and Washington plan to collaborate with partners to implement an immediate reconstruction plan for the Gaza Strip, highlighting the upcoming Cairo Conference for Early Recovery and Reconstruction in Gaza in November.
President Al-Sisi also shared his vision for a brighter future in the Middle East, aspiring for a region where all people live in peace, with secure borders and protected human rights. To honor contributions to the peace process, he announced the decision to award the Nile Collar, Egypt's highest state honor, to U.S. President Donald Trump.
The summit in Sharm El-Sheikh was attended by a delegation from Kuwait, led by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, representing His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
