Cairo: Egyptian President Abdulfattah Al-Sisi on Thursday affirmed his nation's full support for Sudan's unity, security, and territorial sanctity. President Al-Sisi expressed Egypt's strong stance for Sudan during a meeting with the visiting President of the Sovereign Council of Sudan, General Abdulfattah Al-Burhan, said spokesperson of the Egyptian Presidency, Ambassador Mohammad Al-Shennawi in a statement.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the two leaders agreed on the necessity of intensifying regional and international efforts to restore peace and stability in Sudan and supporting the Sudanese people who have been suffering from harsh humanitarian circumstances. They demanded a halt to the crimes against the people and the bringing of those responsible to justice.
The discussion also touched on issues in the Nile Basin and the Horn of Africa, affirming their harmonious views on national security issues and a shared commitment to safeguard water security. Ambassador Al-Shennawi added that President Al-Sisi and General Al-Burhan rejected unilateral measures in the Blue Nile Basin and called for adherence to international law to protect water security. Earlier in the day, the Egyptian president received the Sudanese leader before a broad meeting that included officials from both sides.
