Egypt Renews Commitment to Restoring Stability in Sudan

Cairo: Egypt has renewed its support for international efforts aimed at restoring security and stability in Sudan, including US President Donald Trump's vision to address the conflict in the troubled nation and other global conflict zones. The Egyptian stance was articulated by Ambassador Mohammad Al-Shennawi, the Presidency spokesperson, during a press statement marking the visit of General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, President of the Sovereign Council of Sudan.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Ambassador Al-Shennawi expressed Egypt's deep concern over the ongoing escalation and intense tension in Sudan, particularly highlighting the horrific massacres and blatant human rights abuses against civilians in the city of El-Fasher. He emphasized that there are critical "red lines" that must not be breached, as they are intrinsically linked to Sudan's national security.

Ambassador Al-Shennawi reiterated the importance of preserving Sudan's unity, the sanctity of its territories, and the protection of its people's resources, firmly rejecting the establishment of "parallel entities." He affirmed Egypt's right to intervene to safeguard Sudanese state institutions and emphasized Egypt's commitment to working through the international quadripartite to secure a humanitarian truce and create humanitarian corridors to assist civilians.

The "Quadripartite for Sudan," composed of the United States, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), is a diplomatic group formed to address the Sudanese conflict. This coalition has proposed a peace roadmap that includes humanitarian truces, ceasefires, and a transition to civilian rule, with the broader aim of countering extremism and promoting regional stability.
