Cairo: Egyptian President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi and French President Emmanuel Macron engaged in a phone conversation to discuss the current situation in the Middle East, focusing on the Israeli occupation war on the Gaza Strip and the recent attack on Qatar.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the discussion centered around preparations for an upcoming high-level conference on the two-state solution, scheduled for Monday during the 80th UN General Assembly session. Both leaders emphasized the importance of the conference as a crucial step towards the recognition of a Palestinian state within the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, as stated by Egypt's presidential Ambassador Mohammad Al-Shennawy in a press release.
The conversation also covered the outcomes of a virtual summit held on September 15, which had been initiated by President Macron. President Al-Sisi expressed his appreciation for Macron's efforts in organizing the summit aimed at reducing tensions in the Middle East. He also welcomed France's intention to recognize the State of Palestine, highlighting that this move could contribute to peace and stability in the region.
