Egypt Reaffirms Stance Against Gaza Displacement

Amman: Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Dr. Badr Abdelatty reiterated on Sunday Egypt's rejection of the forced relocation of Gaza's residents, emphasizing that it is a "red line" that Egypt will not allow to be crossed under any circumstances. This came during a joint press conference held by Dr. Abdelatty with the German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Reem Radovan, and the Egyptian Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, in the city of Al-Alamein.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Abdelatty said that "the Israeli aggression against Gaza and the West Bank is blatant and unacceptable." He stressed the urgent need for humanitarian, medical, and financial resources necessary for Gaza in order to give hope to the Palestinian people, warning of the 'famine and humanitarian crises' being witnessed in the region.

For her part, Minister Radovan announced that Germany will participate in an urgent plan to rebuild Gaza in cooperation with Egypt, if a ceasefire is reached. She added that due to Egypt's strong relations with the Palestinian Authority, they are able to devise a plan in cooperation with other countries to rebuild Gaza. Radovan stressed her country's support for a lasting ceasefire agreement, while calling for urgent humanitarian aid to be provided, and the release of detainees.

Minister Al-Mashat described the relations between Egypt and the European Union as 'strategic' and a model to be emulated in the fields of development and financing. She noted that more than 1,400 German companies operate in Egypt, and that the volume of trade between both countries has reached EUR 7 billion (USD 8 billion). Al-Mashat pointed out that negotiations regarding the annual financial cooperation agreement are near to completion, which provide concessional financing, grants, and technical support for economic sectors within Egypt.
