Cairo: Egyptian President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi and Jordan’s King Abdullah II have jointly expressed their firm opposition to any attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians. The leaders emphasized their stance during a meeting on Wednesday, advocating for an immediate ceasefire in the conflict-ridden Gaza Strip.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the discussions highlighted the importance of establishing an independent Palestinian state based on the 1947 border lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital. This is seen as a crucial component of the two-state solution to the ongoing Middle East conflict, as stated by Egyptian president’s spokesman Mohamed El-Shennawy.
The talks come ahead of a conference hosted by Egypt on December 2, aimed at enhancing humanitarian aid efforts in Gaza. President Al-Sisi emphasized the necessity for uninterrupted delivery of aid to the region, labeling it as an international obligation.
Additionally, both leaders welcomed the recent ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon’s
Hezbollah group, expressing their support for any measures designed to sustain stability and sovereignty in Beirut.
