Cooperation “key” to keep development steady in face of COVID – minister

Cooperation among state bodies is “key” to attain perpetual development despite the presence of the COVID-19 pandemic, Kuwait’s social affairs minister said on Wednesday, emphasizing that bringing national ambitions to fruition is a collective effort. Citing some of the measures Kuwait has taken in the country’s fight against COVID-19, Mubarak Al-Arou, who doubles as housing minister, told a pan – Gulf Arab webinar on the region’s pandemic response that keeping stability on all fronts was the ultimate aim as the outbreak raged.

The webinar, held by global policy and advocacy body, Doha International Family Institute, looked into some of the contributions Kuwait had made towards assisting those hardest hit by the pandemic, including providing COVID aid worth more than USD 69 million to nearly 47,000 nationals whose lives were upended because of the outbreak. These contributions are in addition to homegrown initiatives such as charity aid and assistance provided by small and medium-sized entrepreneurs, added the minister.
