Continuous Rains Claim 63 Lives in Eastern Pakistan

Lahore: At least 63 people lost their lives, while 290 others sustained injuries in Pakistan's eastern Punjab province in the last 24 hours as a "rain emergency" has been imposed in the province, said authorities on Thursday.

According to Kuwait News Agency, a statement by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority confirmed that 63 citizens have died while 290 were injured due to monsoon rains across the province in the past 24 hours. The authority reported deaths in Lahore, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, and Okara district.

The National Disaster Management Authority has forecasted that heavy rains will continue to lash parts of the country over the next 24 hours.

Last month, at least 37 people lost their lives while over 50 others received injuries across Pakistan after heavy rainfall.
