Beijing: Foreign Minister Wang Yi called for rectifying the course of China-Syria relations and bringing them back onto the right track during a meeting with Asaad Al-Shibani, Syria's interim government's foreign minister, in Beijing. The two diplomats discussed issues of mutual concern and the need to strengthen bilateral ties. According to Kuwait News Agency, the Chinese Foreign Ministry, in a statement carried by Xinhua News Agency, highlighted Wang's remarks emphasizing China's support for Syria's efforts to achieve peace and foster an inclusive dialogue "led and owned by the Syrian people." Wang stressed that such a process would aid Syria in reintegrating into the international community, allowing for solutions reflecting the will of its people and facilitating the country's reconstruction. Al-Shibani highlighted the deep historical roots and strategic importance of Syrian-Chinese relations, affirming Syria's commitment to the One-China principle and opposing actions undermining it. He expressed Syria 's eagerness to collaborate with China in advancing the Belt and Road Initiative and enhancing cooperation in various fields to support national reconstruction. Furthermore, he voiced hope for China's continued assistance to Syria and support at the United Nations.
