Kuwait City: China and five Central Asian countries signed a treaty of permanent good neighborliness and friendly cooperation, aimed at enhancing their partnership and advancing a closer Chinese-Central Asian community with a shared future.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the signing ceremony was attended by Chinese President Xi Jinping and the presidents of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkmenistan during the second China-Central Asia Summit at the Independence Palace in Astana. The leaders announced the signing of 12 cooperation documents focusing on initiatives like the Belt and Road, trade promotion, infrastructure connectivity, and establishing sister city partnerships.
The summit also marked the unveiling of three cooperation centers focused on poverty reduction, educational exchanges, and combating desertification. President Xi pledged China's support for Central Asia in implementing development projects, offering 3,000 training opportunities over the next two years.
In his speech at the summit, Xi emphasized mutual respect and cooperation for high-quality development, warning against actions that could harm each other's core interests. He advocated for global peace through justice, fairness, and mutual benefit, opposing unilateralism, protectionism, and hegemony.
Xi highlighted the necessity of a multipolar, organized, and inclusive world, promoting globalization and maintaining a United Nations-centered international system for global peace. He also stressed enhancing security governance and combating terrorism, extremism, and separatism to maintain regional stability.
Central Asian leaders acknowledged China's strategic partnership and expressed their commitment to deepening cooperation across various sectors, aiming to make the China-Central Asia mechanism a model for regional cooperation. They also supported Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan's accession to the World Trade Organization and expressed readiness to assist Afghanistan in achieving peace and prosperity.
