Muscat: The Secretary General of the Kuwaiti Writers Association, Humaidi Al-Mutairi, affirmed the association's interest in participating in cultural events and regional and international forums to highlight Kuwaiti literary works and creativity. This was stated during the association's participation in the 29th Muscat International Book Fair.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Al-Mutairi mentioned that this participation marks the first time the association has engaged in a book fair outside Kuwait since its establishment in 1964. He emphasized that this represents a significant shift in the association's approach and operations. The decision to engage in regional and international exhibitions is driven by a commitment to support its members and promote their literary and cultural contributions more widely.
Al-Mutairi expressed his happiness with this engagement, which aligns with Kuwait being designated as the Capital of Arab Culture and Media for 2025. At the fair, the association will showcase the works and publications of its members at a designated booth.
He also praised the efforts of the fair's organizers and their cooperation in facilitating the association's participation, highlighting the strong cultural ties between Kuwait and the Sultanate of Oman. Al-Mutairi commended the vibrant scientific and cultural movement in Oman, which showcases its rich heritage.
Expressing optimism, he hopes this step will expand the reach of Kuwaiti books in Oman and expressed intentions to replicate this experience at future Arab book fairs, benefiting association members.
The 29th Muscat International Book Fair commenced last Thursday, with 674 publishing houses from 35 countries, including Kuwait, participating. The fair features numerous cultural and literary events and continues until May third.
