Cairo: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammad bin Abdulrahman engaged in a phone discussion on Tuesday to deliberate over the second phase of U.S. President Donald Trump's Gaza peace plan.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the dialogue occurred as part of ongoing consultation and coordination between Egypt and Qatar. Both countries emphasized their bilateral relations and exchanged perspectives on regional issues, as stated by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry in a press release.
During their conversation, the ministers discussed the latest developments in the Gaza Strip. The Egyptian minister highlighted the importance of the recently established interim Palestinian technocratic committee, tasked with managing the enclave, alongside an international stabilization force. Abdelatty stressed the need for humanitarian aid to promote early recovery and reiterated Egypt's opposition to any actions that could threaten Palestinian territorial integrity.
In addition to the Gaza discussion, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's stance on Yemen, advocating for the support of its unity and territorial integrity, as well as the preservation of its national state institutions.
Regarding Egyptian-Qatari relations, Abdelatty noted the strong fraternal ties between Cairo and Doha. He emphasized the mutual desire to enhance cooperation between the two nations on all levels.
