Cabinet: Continuing cooperation between authorities “imperative”

— The Kuwaiti Cabinet said Monday that continued collaboration between the executive and legislative authorities in line with Article (50) of the Constitution, is paramount.

This came during the weekly Cabinet session led by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior and Acting Defense Minister Sheikh Talal Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah at Sief Palace.

Boosting cooperation between the two branches will help facilitate implement political, social and economic reform, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Barrak Al-Shaitan said in a statement after the meeting.

Meanwhile, the Cabinet reviewed National Assembly’s session last Wednesday that discussed the State Audit Bureau (SAB) report on budgets of ministries, government authorities and their relevant and independent bodies, as well as their final accounts.

The Cabinet directed government bodies to take into consideration observations mentioned in the SAB report, and find required mechanisms to curb and avoid such notices, Al-Shaitan said.

On the advent of the New Year 2023, the Cabinet congratulated His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Deputy Amir and Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and the Kuwaiti people on this occasion, wishing peace, security and stability to all.

The Cabinet, then, discussed National Assembly affairs and reviewed its regular and complementary sessions held last Tuesday and Wednesday.

Moreover, the Cabinet mourned former MP Khalaf Al-Enzi, who passed away last week, recalling his outstanding role in serving his country.

On Arab and regional political affairs, the Cabinet expressed condemnation of the terrorist attack that targeted Iraq’s security forces, killing and wounding personnel.

The Cabinet affirmed Kuwait’s firm and principled position of rejecting violence and terrorism, expressing sincere condolences to the Iraqi government and people and wishing a rapid recovery to the injured.
