Bomb Explosions Rock Kuwait National Assembly and Key Government Buildings

Kuwait city: Bomb explosions occurred at the Kuwait National Assembly, the residence of the Interior and Defense Minister Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah, and the Ministry of Interior building. Twenty-one Kuwaiti nationals and a Palestinian man were apprehended in connection with the incidents. They were identified as members of the Gulf Liberation Front, which is an offshoot of the Arab Nationalist movement.

According to Kuwait News Agency, several significant events have marked Kuwait's history on this day. In 1984, Mohammad Al-Nashmi, a prominent actor, passed away at the age of 57. His contributions to the arts were widely recognized in the region.

In 1991, Qarouh Island became the first piece of Kuwaiti land to be liberated from Iraqi occupation by the US-led coalition. The Kuwaiti flag was raised on the island, symbolizing its liberation and the beginning of a new chapter for the nation.

In 2002, the Kuwait National Assembly passed a draft bill aimed at increasing the capital of the Kuwait Credit Bank. This move was intended to provide essential liquidity to fund loans for house construction, addressing a significant need within the country.

Fast forward to 2023, the Ministry of Oil announced that Dr. Nasser Al-Rushaid, a professor at the Kuwait University Faculty of Law, secured the position of legal consultant at OPEC. This appointment highlights Kuwait's ongoing influence and involvement in international oil affairs.

Looking ahead to 2025, Kuwait Petroleum International revealed its success in winning two bids to operate major gas stations in Europe, marking an expansion of the country's energy sector presence on the continent.
