Berlin Suspends Arms Exports to Israeli Occupation Amid Escalating Military Actions

Berlin: German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced on Friday that his government would suspend the export of military equipment to the Israeli occupation, particularly those that could be used in the Gaza Strip. This decision comes amid growing concerns about the Israeli army's intensified military actions in the region.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Chancellor Merz expressed his apprehensions through a press statement, questioning the effectiveness of the Israeli occupation's stricter military strategy in achieving its objectives. "The even tougher military action by the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip, which was decided on by the Israeli cabinet last night, makes it increasingly difficult, from the German government's point of view, to understand how these goals are to be achieved," Merz stated.

The German government has decided not to authorize any exports of military equipment that could potentially be used in the Gaza Strip until further notice. This move highlights Berlin's deep concern over the ongoing suffering of the civilian population in the Gaza Strip, which Merz emphasized during his announcement.

Despite being one of the most steadfast European allies of the Israeli occupation and historically reluctant to halt arms exports, Germany's decision signals a significant shift in its stance. Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation government, led by Benjamin Netanyahu, approved a plan on Thursday evening to take control of Gaza City and expand its military operations.
