Basra Oil Company and Lukoil inaugurate two well complexes in the West Qurna 2 field

The Basra Oil Company and Russia’s Lukoil, the main operator of the West Qurna / 2 field, inaugurated well complexes No. 4 and 9 today, Thursday, with the support and backing of the Ministry of Oil, in the presence of the Assistant Director General for Production Affairs and National Effort Basem Al-Ghalbi and the Director of Lukoil in Basra Alexei Yakalov and the sub-contractor, the Italian company Sagam.

They indicated that production increased by about 130 thousand barrels per day over the previous production and became 480 thousand barrels per day, indicating that this is the first stage of developing the West Qurna / 2 field, and it will be followed by other stages in which production will reach a peak of 800 thousand barrels per day.

It is mentioned that these wells were dug by the Chinese Bohai Company, and the work took about eighteen months, and the oil produced from it is sent to Al-Touba warehouse and then to the export ports.
