Bahrain Engages in 2026 International Migration Review Forum

New york: The Kingdom of Bahrain participated in the 2026 International Migration Review Forum (IMRF) to assess the progress in implementing the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration and to set priorities for the next five years. Ambassador Nancy Abdullah Jamal, Deputy Permanent Representative of Bahrain to the United Nations in New York, delivered a statement on behalf of Bahrain's Permanent Representative to the UN, emphasizing Bahrain's dedication to integrating the Compact's objectives into national policies and practices.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Ambassador Jamal outlined Bahrain's ongoing efforts to enhance labour legislation in accordance with international standards. This includes the Labour Registration Program aimed at regularizing workers' status and the Expat Protection Centre, which offers support to victims of human trafficking. She reaffirmed Bahrain's consistent commitment to combating human trafficking, highlighting that the Kingdom has maintained a Tier 1 ranking in the US Trafficking in Persons Report for eight consecutive years. Bahrain continues to collaborate with international entities such as the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
