Baghdad and Paris Discuss Third Edition of Cooperation Conference

Baghdad: Iraq's Prime Minister Mohammad Al-Sudani and French President Emmanuel Macron engaged in discussions on Saturday about the potential organization of the third edition of the Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership. The dialogue took place during a telephone call where both leaders addressed various files and issues of mutual interest, including regional topics. They also agreed to form a bilateral team to arrange the timeline for Macron's anticipated visit to Baghdad.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the conversation revealed aligned perspectives on the evolving political process in Syria, emphasizing the necessity of combating terror and extremism, as stated by the Iraqi cabinet's media office. They also concurred on the importance of achieving stability in Lebanon and enhancing efforts to rebuild Gaza, ensuring the consolidation of the truce and preventing any escalation arising from violations.

On the topic of Iran, Macron and Al-Sudani underscored the importance of resolving disputes through peaceful dialogue. Macron expressed France's intention to maintain cooperation with Iraq across various sectors, reiterating a commitment to collaborate with Iraq in the fight against terror.

The previous editions of the conference were held in Iraq in August 2021 and in Jordan in December 2022.
