Cairo: The 47th session of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Ministers of Transport began in Cairo on Sunday, with discussions centered around a unified pan-Arab strategy aimed at developing sustainable transport, enhancing logistic connectivity, and advancing land, sea, and air transport sectors.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Egyptian Deputy Prime Minister and Industry Minister Kamel Al-Wazeer emphasized the importance of the Arab transport strategy, advocating for increased Arab cooperation to tackle global economic challenges. Al-Wazeer, who presided over the meeting, highlighted the necessity of strengthening Arab collaboration in light of current economic and geopolitical challenges, such as the consequences of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Israeli occupation actions in Gaza, and security issues in the Red Sea region.
Al-Wazeer pointed out that the agenda includes critical topics, such as supporting the Palestinian economy, enhancing transport infrastructure across land, sea, and air, and updating agreements on passenger and cargo transportation. The meeting aims to address these issues to foster regional stability and economic growth.
Bahjat Abu Al-Nasr, Chief of the Arab League's Transport Department, expressed optimism that the discussions would lead to the achievement of the desired objectives. He elaborated that the agenda comprises 26 items that will be deliberated upon and subsequently referred to the council's 38th session scheduled to take place in Cairo on Monday.
