Arab Social Affairs Ministers Convene in Cairo to Address Palestinian Social Conditions

Cairo: The Arab Social Affairs Ministers’ Executive Bureau commenced its meeting at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo, chaired by Egypt, to deliberate on pressing social issues, primarily the support of social conditions in Palestine. Kuwait is actively participating, with its delegation led by Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah, the Minister of Social Affairs, Family Affairs and Childhood, and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the Bureau is prioritizing discussions on joint Arab social development, with a particular focus on improving social conditions in Palestine, especially in Gaza, amidst the ongoing inhumane practices by the Israeli occupation. This meeting continues the Bureau’s long-standing commitment to Palestinian support, which remains a permanent agenda item, reaffirming its responsibility to the Palestinian people.

The Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs has previously passed several resolutions on the issue, and the current meeting is part of ongoing efforts to address these concerns. Furthermore, preparations are underway for the Second World Summit for Social Development, to be held in Doha from November 4 to 6, 2025, as mandated by a UN General Assembly resolution. This summit aims to highlight Arab priorities following the 1995 Copenhagen summit.

Additionally, the ministers are setting the groundwork for the upcoming Arab Summit in Saudi Arabia in 2026. This summit will focus on social issues affecting Arab citizens, including those with disabilities, the elderly, families, and children, in alignment with the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.
