Cairo: A sub-committee of the Arab Parliament has issued a call for concerted efforts to combat illegal immigration, which it identifies as a major contributor to human trafficking and a crime against humanity that threatens the security and stability of nations.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the sub-committee convened to deliberate on an Arab draft law aimed at addressing illegal immigration within Arab countries. This initiative is part of a broader collective effort to tackle the persistent issue. The proposed bill seeks to establish a framework for enhancing national legislation against illegal immigration, thereby boosting security measures to curb trafficking and cross-border crimes.
The sub-committee emphasized that the bill is designed not only to address the immediate challenges posed by illegal immigration but also to deal with its root causes. It aims to do this while upholding the principles of dignity, human rights, and sustainable development. The draft law is set to be submitted to the legislative committee, which is scheduled to meet on April 20.
