Kuwait city: The Arab League declared that the brutal practices of Israeli occupation forces in occupied Arab territories are posing a significant threat to sustainable development efforts in the Arab region.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the statement was released on the occasion of Arab Population and Development Day, which falls on October 28. It highlighted the urgency as the world approaches the 2030 deadline for achieving sustainable development goals, emphasizing that current efforts are hampered by escalating conflicts and geopolitical tensions.
The statement underscored that the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development, alongside the program of action from the 1994 International Conference on Population and Development, is designed to prioritize the human person as the core of development. However, ongoing conflicts and occupation actions are derailing these objectives.
The Arab League further noted the redirection of development resources towards security and military expenditures due to these practices, thereby weakening political commitment and threatening regional stability.
The statement called for a concerted international effort to safeguard development gains, invest in peace, and preserve lives. It stressed that true development, security, and stability can be realized only through investments in people, focusing on education, health, culture, and awareness.
