Arab League Set to Sign Landmark Power Grid Treaties on Sunday.

Cairo: The Arab League announced on Saturday that the pan-Arab power grid treaties will be signed during the 15th session of the Arab electricity ministerial council, scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday. Dr. Ali Al-Malki, the assistant secretary general for economic affairs, stated that the two agreements, known as the general accord and the market treaty, will be signed during the ministerial session. This signing marks a significant step towards activating the terms of these accords. According to Kuwait News Agency, the two agreements aim to establish a foundation for an integrated Arab power market. This market is expected to enhance the stability and supply within the sector, reduce costs, and promote investments in renewable energy. Dr. Al-Malki expressed optimism that this initiative could eventually position Arab states as major exporters of clean energy. The initial phase of the joint market will focus on eastern Arab countries, Dr. Al-Malki indicated.
