Cairo: The Arab League on Wednesday reiterated its unwavering stance against the forced displacement of Palestinians by Israeli occupation forces in the Gaza Strip, West Bank, and East Jerusalem. This statement was made as part of a press release commemorating the Arab Expatriate's Day, which is observed on December 4 each year. The League emphasized the continuous attempts to undermine the Palestinian refugee cause, notably through efforts to dismantle the UN refugee agency (UNRWA). According to Kuwait News Agency, the Arab League highlighted the recent Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon, leading to the largest displacement of populations both within and outside the country. These strikes resulted in civilian casualties, including refugees, and targeted critical Lebanese-Syrian border crossings. The League underscored the importance of resolving the Palestinian diaspora's plight and securing their rights to self-determination, repatriation, and compensation, in line with international resolutions such as the UN General Assembly Resolution 194/1948. The Arab bloc also expressed its firm opposition to attempts at redefining the status of Palestinian refugees or measures to dismantle UNRWA, particularly criticizing the Israeli Knesset's decision to ban the agency's activities. Despite these challenges, the Arab League recognized the positive contributions of Arab expatriates in fostering social, cultural, and economic ties between their home and host countries. The celebration of Arab Expatriate's Day is in accordance with Ministerial Council Resolutions No. 6464 and No. 7411, which initiated the annual observance on December 4. This occasion acknowledges the vital role of Arab expatriates and supports their scientific and practical contributions worldwide.
