Cairo: Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit expressed hope that the formation of Yemen's new government, led by Prime Minister Shaya' Al-Zindani, would improve essential services for Yemeni citizens and enhance state institutions' efficiency.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Aboul Gheit commended the Yemeni political factions for their collaborative efforts to expedite the announcement of the new government amidst challenging circumstances in Yemen and the region. He also welcomed the inclusion of women and youth in the new cabinet, seeing it as a demonstration of political will to recognize social diversity and the significant role of Yemeni women and youth in national decision-making.
The Secretary-General reiterated the Arab League Council's resolutions that support Yemen's unity and sovereignty, stressing the importance of non-interference in its internal affairs. He also called for efforts to alleviate the humanitarian suffering faced by the Yemeni populace.
The newly formed government comprises 35 ministers, including three women, marking an increase of ten ministers from the previous cabinet led by Maeen Abdulmalik.
