Amir Rep. Launches Celebrations of “Kuwait, Capital of Arab Culture and Media”

Kuwait City: The Representative of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Minister of Information and Culture Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, launched the "Kuwait, the Arab Capital of Culture and Media for 2025" on Thursday. The event, held at the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center's theater, was attended by some ministers and Arab dignitaries.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Al-Mutairi expressed his honor in representing His Highness the Amir at the ceremony, emphasizing the importance of culture and media in building society and enhancing national identity. The event marked the conclusion of the 30th session of the Qurain Cultural Festival, a significant platform in Arab culture, and coincided with the launch of initiatives for "Kuwait, the Arab Capital of Culture and Media 2025."

Al-Mutairi highlighted the contributions of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization and the Arab Information Ministers Council in recognizing Kuwait's role in enriching Arab culture. He affirmed Kuwait's commitment to promoting media and cultural movements and developing intellectual production. Since its independence, Kuwait has embraced a comprehensive cultural vision that fosters innovation and supports the development and progress of society.

The minister underscored Kuwait's ongoing efforts in launching initiatives to raise awareness and enhance cultural identity among Arab generations. He noted that investing in culture equates to investing in human development and the future. The National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters is dedicated to supporting innovation and fostering cultural exchange through various events that highlight the nation's rich identity.

Al-Mutairi expressed gratitude to His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah for their unwavering support and encouragement.

Meanwhile, Dr. Ould Amar, Director-General of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), congratulated Kuwait on the inauguration of the event. He remarked on the cultural significance of the occasion, which offers a unique opportunity to rediscover Kuwait's intellectual, scientific, and cultural heritage. Dr. Amar praised Al-Mutairi's efforts in ensuring the success of such events and noted ALECSO's commitment to developing cultural policies across Arab nations. A team will be formed to work towards this goal, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif city recognized as a permanent capital of Arab culture alongside any selected Arab city.
