Geneva: The Permanent Representative of Kuwait to the UN and other international organizations, Ambassador Nasser Al-Hayen, emphasized the importance of ongoing cooperation to bolster peace, security, and the defense of shared values and principles. His statements were made during his chairing of the inaugural meeting of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) ambassadors for 2025.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Ambassador Al-Hayen elaborated that the meeting, held on Wednesday at the GCC Mission headquarters in Geneva under Kuwait's presidency, reaffirmed the conclusions from the latest Gulf Summit. The discussions concentrated on coordinating priorities for joint Gulf initiatives within international organizations in Geneva. This included deliberations on protecting legal frameworks and international agreements, as well as ensuring unified participation in the upcoming 58th session of the Human Rights Council, which is scheduled from February 24 to April 4.
He further noted that the ambassadors assessed significant international developments and regional issues, with a particular focus on situations in Gaza, Syria, Lebanon, and Sudan. They highlighted the necessity to enhance diplomatic and humanitarian efforts to address ongoing challenges and to promote regional stability.
Ambassador Al-Hayen reiterated the GCC's dedication to actively supporting humanitarian and human rights issues through international organizations. He also emphasized the importance of aligning Gulf positions to further the council's strategic objectives on the global stage.
