ALECSO Recognizes Kuwait Towers as Major Arab Architectural Landmark

Tunis: The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) has officially recognized the Kuwait Towers as a significant architectural landmark by including them on the Arab Heritage List. This inclusion solidifies the towers' status as a prominent example of modern architecture within contemporary Arab heritage.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the Culture Department Director of ALECSO, Humaid Al-Nofali, stated that the Kuwait Towers were selected due to their unique engineering, creativity, and aesthetic features. These qualities have earned them a place in ALECSO's Architectural and Urban Heritage in Arab Countries registry. Al-Nofali highlighted that the towers were well-received by ALECSO's jury, as they reflect a modern architectural vision and represent a crucial stage in the evolution of Arab architecture in the modern era.

The Kuwait Towers serve as a distinguished model of contemporary heritage that successfully combines traditional identity with modernity, adding cultural and touristic value to the Arab architectural landscape. Al-Nofali further emphasized the significance of ALECSO's Architectural and Urban Heritage in Arab Countries register. This register provides a unique perspective, distinct from those of international organizations such as UNESCO and ISESCO, by focusing on the urban expansion of cities and the preservation of their historical identities.

The main goal of this register is to safeguard the architectural and urban heritage of Arab countries, especially in the face of challenges posed by exceptional circumstances and disasters. Beyond protection, the register aims to raise awareness about the importance of heritage among Arab citizens and promote its role in sustainable development. This is achieved by integrating heritage into vital sectors such as tourism, economy, and traditional crafts.
