ALECSO Awards Arab Cultural Merit to UAE’s Sharjah Governor

Tunis: Arab League Educational Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) has awarded the order of Arab cultural merit in its edition to the governor of UAE's Sharjah, Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammad Al-Qasemi, in recognition of his efforts in serving Arab culture.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Mohammad Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, stated during a ceremony that Sheikh Sultan's support for culture, sciences, and arts has contributed to increasing awareness of Arab culture and spreading knowledge across the Arab world.

He highlighted Sheikh Sultan's impact on enriching the cultural landscape and reinforcing Arab identity. Sheikh Sultan's contributions have extended to the dissemination of sciences and techniques, as well as supporting education, culture, and arts both in the UAE and the broader Arab region.

ALECSO's chief acknowledged Sheikh Sultan's role in establishing initiatives such as the international Sharjah book fair, Sharjah culture weeks, and various poetry festivals. Additionally, Sheikh Sultan has been instrumental in founding several universities and scientific research centers focused on innovation.

Further, Sheikh Sultan has significantly contributed to Arab culture by gifting a historical dictionary of the Arabic language in 127 volumes to the cultural and educational sphere.

The ceremony was attended by several Arab ambassadors, including Kuwait's envoy to Tunisia, Mansour Al-Omar, and other prominent figures in the arts and cultural sectors.
