Al-Sudani discusses with the Parliamentary Agriculture, Water and Marshes Committee ways to improve the status of the agricultural sector

The Prime Minister, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, received today, Thursday, members of the Parliamentary Agriculture, Water and Marshes Committee.

During the meeting, according to a statement by the Prime Minister’s Office, they discussed the progress of implementing the government’s plans in the agricultural sector, which represents an important joint of its government program, by working to revive and revitalize the agricultural reality, as it is one of the most important aspects of the economic reform adopted by the government.

The meeting also dealt with the challenges related to managing the water file and how to deal with it, by adhering to the government’s programs and directives, which aim to preserve water wealth and make the best use of it.

Emphasis was also placed on supporting the farmers, providing all their requirements and needs, as well as preparing the requirements for receiving the marketed grains and paying their dues, in order to encourage them and support the national product in order to achieve food security.

Al-Sudani referred to the plan for the upcoming winter agricultural season, stressing that government support will only include farmers who use modern irrigation systems.

Al-Sudani also indicated that the next agricultural season will include support for the outputs of the agricultural process without supporting inputs, in order to encourage the consolidation of the agricultural sector and increase its economic feasibility.
