After his meeting with Mikati.. Kuwaiti Foreign Minister: All GCC countries are sympathetic and in solidarity with the Lebanese people

Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Ahmed Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Sabah confirmed today, Saturday, that he is visiting Lebanon to build confidence and show solidarity with the Lebanese people, noting that this step was carried out in coordination with other Gulf Arab countries.

After his meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati, Sheikh Ahmed said: My coming to Lebanon is to support it, to extricate it from all that it is going through, and to help it to overcome these difficulties and to restore confidence-building measures with Lebanon.

He added that all GCC countries are sympathetic and in solidarity with the Lebanese people, pointing out that the Kuwaiti move is a Gulf move and there is coordination with all Gulf countries on this issue.

Sheikh Ahmed’s visit to Beirut is the first by a senior Gulf official since a diplomatic dispute last year, after statements made by former Lebanese Minister of Information George Kordahi criticizing the Saudi-led military intervention in Yemen.

Last October, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain expelled Lebanese diplomats and withdrew their Ambassadors from Beirut in the wake of Qardahi’s statements.
