962 Individuals Stripped of Kuwaiti Citizenship

Kuwait City: The Supreme Committee on Kuwaiti citizenship announced on Thursday the stripping of 962 citizenships with the matter referred to the cabinet. The decision was made during the committee's meeting on Thursday chaired by Acting Prime Minister Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al-Sabah.

According to Kuwait News Agency, a statement by the Ministry of Interior revealed that 13 individuals had their Article (11) of the citizenship law revoked due to dual citizenships. Additionally, 186 people had their Article (21 bis A) citizenship rescinded due to forgery, fraud, and obtaining the document via affiliation. Furthermore, 82 individuals had their Article (13) citizenship revoked for similar reasons of forgery, fraud, and obtaining the document through affiliation.

The committee also decided to strip 681 individuals of their Article (13) citizenship, which they had obtained through recognition of valuable services. The action underscores a significant move by the Kuwaiti authorities to address issues related to citizenship laws and ensure the integrity of the nation's legal and administrative frameworks.
