Youth Theater Days Festival Launches 15th Edition in Kuwait

Kuwait City: The Director General of the Public Authority for Youth, Nasser Al-Sheikh, inaugurated the 15th edition of the Youth Theater Days festival at the Abdulhussain Abdulredha Theater. The festival, which commenced on Saturday, will run until February 23.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Al-Sheikh represented Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, who sponsors the festival. He described the Youth Theater Days Festival as a significant event in Kuwait's cultural and artistic scene. The festival serves as an open venue for young creatives to showcase their talents in a competitive setting, thereby enriching the theatrical movement and strengthening the country's cultural identity.

Al-Sheikh emphasized that theater acts as a mirror reflecting societal aspirations and serves as a platform for youth to express their ideas and ambitions. He highlighted the role of Kuwaiti youth in leading the theater movement, showcasing their ability to innovate and contribute to the arts and culture sector.

The festival's timing is particularly significant as it aligns with Kuwait's coronation as the Arab Capital of Culture for 2025. Al-Sheikh noted that this highlights Kuwait's historical position as a hub of thought and creativity, with a rich cultural heritage. He stressed the Authority's commitment to nurturing theater and the arts as key components of this cultural journey.

Al-Sheikh also mentioned that under the directives of the Minister of Information and Culture, the Authority aims to enhance the festival to provide an integrated experience. This development seeks to empower young talents, offering them opportunities to grow, learn, and make a meaningful impact in the arts and culture landscape.
