Sanaa: Yemeni Information Minister Muammar Al-Aryani decried the Houthi militia's theft of food warehouses belonging to the World Food Programme in Saada. The minister stated that the militiamen seized more than 1.5 million kilograms of food supplies, obstructing the WFP's efforts to provide provisions to millions of impoverished Yemenis.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Al-Aryani also highlighted that the Houthi militias, weeks ago, abducted Ahmad Baalouli, a WFP employee, and executed him while he was in captivity in Saada. He further noted that these militias had, in September 2018, converted food warehouses into military positions in Al-Hodaida, and in January 2020, seized 127.5 tons of food supplies from the WFP stores in Hajja.
The information minister urged the United Nations to take a decisive stand against the recurring attacks on humanitarian agencies. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) had also declared that the Houthis seized the WFP supplies in Saada.
