Yemeni Government Accuses Houthis of Piracy on Cargo Ship

Al-hudaydah: Yemeni Information Minister Muammar Al-Eryani accused the Houthi militia of committing maritime piracy by targeting a cargo ship off the coast of Al-Hudaydah Governorate in the Red Sea. According to Kuwait News Agency, the minister condemned the attack on the Liberian-flagged Magic Seas, owned by a Greek company. The incident involved the Houthi militia deploying eight small boats and four explosive-laden drones, resulting in a fire on board and necessitating the evacuation of the crew due to fears of the vessel sinking. The minister emphasized that this incident is a blatant violation of international laws and norms, posing a direct threat to the security of maritime navigation, global trade, and energy supply lines across the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandab, and the Gulf of Aden. He highlighted that the Houthi militia disregards commitments and acts as a tool to destabilize the region, undermine navigation, and exert pressure on the international community.
