Doha: Under the patronage and in the presence of Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the 47th World Military Parachuting Championship (CISM 2025) commenced at Umm Al-Shokhot Airfield in Doha. The opening ceremony, held on Saturday, marked the beginning of a global event featuring 320 military skydivers from 30 countries, running until November 23.
According to Kuwait News Agency, notable attendees included President of Qatar Olympic Committee Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces Air Marshal Staff Jasem bin Mohammad bin Ahmad Al Mannai, and President of the International Military Sports Council Col. Nilton Gomes Rolim Filho. On the sidelines of the championship, Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani and Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani inaugurated the Air Sports Museum, celebrating Qatar's achievements in organizing major international sports events.
Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani received a Guinness World Records certificate, honoring Qatar's accomplishment in hosting the largest military parachute air display. Guinness World Records representative Emma Brain presented the certificate following the opening of the parachuting championship.
