With the support of the French Embassy, the Head of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, Moayad Al-Lami, reviews the “Innovative Journalism” project in Baghdad media

Baghdad, Head of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate visited the President of the Arab Journalists Union; Moayad Al-Lami, today, Sunday, at the College of Mass Communication, to learn closely about the training of the Innovative Journalism Project in Iraq, which is being implemented in partnership between the college and the France Média Monde Academy, with direct support from the French Embassy in Baghdad.

The skills enhancement project implemented with the College of Information at the University of Baghdad aims to: develop the quality of media in Iraq by enhancing the professionalism of journalists and updating the knowledge and skills of university professors.

A number of teachers and employees from the Faculty of Media underwent a professional program prepared by the French Academy for a full year and included various courses, including digital technologies, detecting fake images, editing news, writing reports, dealing with social media sites, and producing video content.

In the context of his visit; The Head of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate and President of the Arab Journalists Union praised the efforts made to strengthen the innovative journalism project in Iraq, expressing his great admiration for the initiative.

He added that: Initiatives to develop the level of media and raise the efficiency of journalists in Iraq are extremely important and necessary, adding: “This visit was a valuable opportunity to learn about the efforts being made to improve the quality of media, and he praised the support provided by the French Embassy and the partners participating in that qualitative efforts.

Al-Lami continued: The visit was an important stop to learn about the training and efforts that develop the skills of journalists and college professors, within the framework of a project aimed at developing the level of media and enhancing the skills of journalists in Iraq.

In other contrast; The Dean of the Faculty of Information: Ammar Taher, appreciated the visit of the Head of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate and President of the Union of Arab Journalists, pointing out: the importance of this important meeting in the context of strengthening the media and developing the level of journalism in the country.

Taher said: We are committed to raising the level of education and developing the skills of students and academic staff at the college, which will subsequently contribute to the development of the media and journalism scene in the country.

It should be noted that (France Média Monde), which runs the training program, is a French state-owned institution that supervises and coordinates the activities of major public media institutions that broadcast or publish internationally from France, including: (Radio France International) and (Monte Carlo International), and the television news channel (France 24), in addition to retaining about: 12.5% of the shares of the news and entertainment network (TV5 Monde).
